Wildfire

We called it what it was.

Still,

I got burned.

Small spark,

Slow burn in my chest,

Spreading uncontrollably.

Flames engulfing,

Clouds consuming,

The wildfire in my chest,

Slowly choking me.

We called it what it was.

Surprised when it couldn’t be tamed.

Suffering third degree burns,

You,

Untouched by the flames.
